DIFFERENCE BETWEEN TREATED AND UNTREATED MOSQUITO NETS

Mosquito-nets

Mosquito nets are essential commodities because of their relevance to human health and society at large. Many people have lost their lives to malaria and other insect biting causing diseases. These bed nets however form protective barricade for those using them

Some diseases like malaria are best controlled by mosquito nets, especially in developing countries such as African setting.
However, it’s imperative to know that there are treated and untreated mosquito nets and as such have differences. Despite their differences, they are both useful and understanding how to use them enables one to maximize them.

Both treated and untreated mosquito nets prevent mosquito bites but treated nets are insecticide treated nets using a synthetic pyrethroid insecticide such as deltamethrin or permethrin which will double the protection over a non-treated net by killing or repelling mosquitoes or health threatening insects.
Above all, they are low risky to human health and every other things they are protecting but are completely dangerous to insects.
The treatment is done anytime you wash the net. Simply mix water with the insecticide and dip the net into the insecticized water, put the net under a shade and allow to dry.
Untreated mosquito nets
Untreated mosquito nets provides modest protection when they are properly used or managed. One stands the risk of being bitten by mosquitoes if peradventure the net gets torn, unlike the treated nets that repel and kill them.
The inability of untreated nets to kill or repel mosquitoes make them less effective but not unimportant because mosquitoes and other insects can find their ways into the net if the nets are not well placed.
Uninsecticized nets pose no risk to life because they have no chemical contents or preventives. Some of these chemicals can bring harms to human health, such as catarrh, nausea, a nasal or respiratory infection. No matter how low risky the chemicalized nets are, the have some measure of harms they can cause to the users.
Untreated nets are resourceful because they cost nothing to be maintained. Only washing and sun drying. No extra costs of buying chemicals over and over again, especially developing countries.
Mosquito nets come in different sizes, shapes, colors, materials (polyester, polypropylene or polyethylene) or insecticide treatment status and are available in Cleaneat Stores.
